Like Mother, Like Daughter

Once upon a time, there was a bakset that used to hang on a kitchen cabinet and hold tea and other small pakcages. Then a little girl named Sassy learned to walk and reach for things. She especially loved to play with things that were not toys. So, the basket was emptied of tea and hung, lonely and empty, until Ginny would remember to play with it from time to time. Yesterday, Ginny's Mom, who used to use a Longaberger basket for a purse, before Ginny was born, came out to the living room to find this.. Little Miss Ginny with her purse, ready to go, with all the essentials. Favorite blanket, drink, a cracker, and a few toys. Now, how Ginny learned this, having never seen her Mother use the basket as a purse, is a mystery.. the best scientists, including a local favorite, Dr. Chirdon, said it must be genetic. Ginny's Father could be heard all throughout Louisiana, wailing out this phrase," NOOOOOOOoooooo Longaberger's are too EXPENSIVEEeeeeeeeee to buy for TWO Sassy's!!!!"
So ends this fairy tale, with one happy little girl, a happy and proud Mother, and a broke, but very happy Father!

today i cried

Ginny thew a toddler fit in Bill's arms, who then tried handing her to me, instead of sitting her down.. and I got the full force of her head to my nose. Thanks Bill. He always wants to hold and console her during these times, not realizing that these are FITS, that it is different than when she would cry as an infant. He doesn't realize his baby has morphed into something foreign. a TODDLER!

so much to do

Today has been full of getting odds and ends done. Ginny fooled me by not taking her regular nap today at 11. She went down around 12:45. Last night I finished uploading pictures from last May until this past February. I also ordered the pictures we wanted, which amounted to 641 sheets, with a few triplicates in there for parents. I have been horribly behind doing this stuff, and then in my mind it becomes an insurmountable task, further delaying working on it. Well, now its done. I'd like to say it won't happen again, but that is how I roll.

Tonight I'll be joing my Mommy friends at "Paiting With a Twist" to paint a monarch butterfly. The only thing I have even painted in my life is ceramic figuringes, some of which I still have, and are quite good, actually. Hopefully this will turn out nice as well. Bill says either way he will stick it on the fridge for me. HAH!

Well I need to shower while Ginny is asleep, to do otherwise would be risking Ginny coloring on the sofa again.. but since she did that when I was not in the shower (with a balck permament marker), I guess there isn't too much to worry about. Luckily it wiped right off the leather. PHEW!
Since I was on hiatus for a looong time, here are some Christmas pictures. One of Ginny in her dress, and the other opening present from MI Grandma - she got Elmo slippers, which she LOVES!
PS- THere will be new youtube videos, should be ready by 3 pm, CST. THey are loading right now, and will take awhile I presume. They include mardi gras, valentines, and christmas (i think).

Toddler's Cove

Today Ginny and I had two outings with her friends. First up was story time at the library. This is a 15 minute session of different nursery rhymes, songs and stories. Ginny has fun clapping along, dislikes the hokey pokey like her Mom, but loves the stuffed animals that visit each week. This week was a kitty, and Ginny added meows when appropriate, during her turn to pet.

Our second trip was to Toddler's Cove. This is a small area in the Natural History museum downtown. It has blocks, a little slide, puppets (Ginny doesn't like them), a play house and other various toys to play with. She usually has a great time, but wasn't feeling it today b/c it was too close to naptime. We left pretty fast for her to come home and nap, then it was lunch, then we had to take all of our misc. papers to the CPA so we can get our taxes done. With two rental homes, it really is a pain. Ginny had a great time in Ms. Judy's office playing with an crinkly envelop and pop up sticky flags. She has a 3 year old grandson and loves to see Ginny run around.

After a busy day its 4, I am beat, and Ginny is running around doing her Elmo voice. This is our Sesame Street time of day, where I try to get a few things done, in addition to dinner. This time of night is a slippery slope, it all happens pretty quickly, then she is in bed, and its time to relax! Well not really. usually it is time to do dishes, laundry, pick up toys and other odds and ends. Sometimes I let it all go. It'll be there a different day. This may be one of those nights!
Above are pictures of ginny and some of her friends and their Mom's at Toddler's Cove in the Museum!

yes, i live

Back by popular demand (seriously) is a Ginny post. I don't know why I have such a hard time doing this, probably the same reason I have never been able to keep a diary. I don't know what that reason is, but I still suspect it is the same.

Now at 18 months, Ginny continues to grow, be adorable, outrageous, gorgeous, smart and wonderful. She keeps a busy schedule and is gone most days to different activites with her playgroup, The Little Sprouts. We go to different homes for playdates, parks to run around, and various other places to have fun. One of Ginny's favorite places is Chuck E. Cheese's. She loves the little toddler area, especially the rides where she can drive a car. She also loves to shake her butt in front of the stage area.. and loves Chuck E. as long as he is up on stage. She hid from the "real" Chuck E. that was walking around last week.

Today Ginny had her Kindermusik class, which she just loves. There are lots of activities there, all with music, which just tickles her. She is always eager to go get the next toy, and is first in line to return them. Curently her favorite activity is the bubble machine. "bubbles" is one of her best, and clearest words. We now have one at home, Twister also joins in the fun of getting bubbles too.
As shown in the picture, Sass loves stickers! This is also another of her good words. She gets one every week in class. I regret not keeping my sticker albums, I am sure she would have loved them. I need to keep my eyes peeled for one, since everything 80's is back. Give me a head up if you see one, or, better yet, buy it for us, I'll hit you back with a check :D

Ginny loves shredded broccoli slaw. I made some tonight, that has brown sugar and apple cidar vinegar as the dressing and she just LOVED it. She also fed some to Chino, who ended up wearing a good bit of it, along with ketchup, but such is the life between a toddler and her malamute.

Tune in tomorrow where I will try to carve more time to post more exciting Ginny news.
