She did it!

Sassy slept all night in her crib! I was able to swaddle her once she fell asleep after her midnite snackeroon. She did wake up, but was fine being swaddled and comforted with the paci. I really do think that she was waking up cold before. So, she slept until 5, ate again, and then slept until almost 10!! I didn't sleep too well, I kept waking up startled, thinking something was surely going on and that the monitor was failing me... haha.

Yesterday we also went to multiple stores. She did really well and was much loved by the owner of Wild Birds Unlimited whose grandchildren live in SPAIN!!! Bill's Mom thought she had it rough! :) Her grandkids are twins, and are ten weeks old. They were cute, but have nothing on sass! We also went to Hallmark and Target. In Target I used the bjorn, she really seemed to like staring at the overhead lights as they went by, falling asleep at the very end.

Today is Bill and I's second anniversary. Van Halen doesn't feel Tardy, I don't feel old. Weird.
Time to scoot, I have to get bills done, not to mention laundry. yuck. Sassy is asleep in her carset, which is in the kitchen. So much for cooking while she is asleep, I don't want to move her and wake her up.

so cute

So cute I just had to post it tonite!

first bath, first time in church, pictures, and misc.

On Friday night Sassy had her first real bath where she was immersed in the water. I got in with her, we avoided all disasters, meaning she didn't poop on me, but there was pee. It's ok, Michael Pheps says everyone pees in the pool! She seemed to enjoy it, and then things went bad quickly, like a volcano, haha.

The middle picture is her at the ripe age of 7 weeks. We'll be taking weekly pictures like that for a while. The top is Uncle Brian's first visit with his neice. They seemed to get on well. He sang her some crazy tunes and tickled her, fitting into the crazy uncle niche nicely. I am sure she will enjoy that more and more when she gets older.

Yesterday Ginny had a big day. We went to her first store- I used the baby bjorn, b/c it was tight gift shop, and she tolerated all the jostling from the car and back nicely. Bill was home doing "house" stuff. We also visited her local Grandma- Mudge - for a couple hours. She did really well there aside from pooping through her diaper into her pants.

Today was also another big step, for mom and baby. Me, a new born germophobe, worked up the courage to take ginny into larger public arena and went to church. She looked ridiculously cute in her outfit that Uncle's Eric and Bill from Seattle sent her. Of course when she got home she needed a diaper change and was ready to eat, so i stripped her before we thought of getting a picture. We'll have to do that soon. The outfit still fits nicely, but thanks to Dad, her feet are very much outgrowing the tiny matching socks. She slept through the entire service, only stirring a couple of times.

Last night she slept an hour in her crib.. a step in the right direction at least. I really think she wakes up cold, her little arms and hands at least, b/c she hates to be swaddled, and sleeps with her ams above her head, they aren't covered by a blanket. I might have to try a sleeper again, but I think she hates the feet on them (too tight maybe), to at least get her arms covered.

Halloween is coming, as usual I am excited. She is being baptized the Sunday after, so we will have guests that night, Bill's parents. I hope they like my Halloween dinner, although I don't know if I will have time or money to do it like I used to.

We made it!!

Sassy and I had our first outing, we went into the library, got our books at the counter, and took off. gone for all of 20 mins. She is still asleep in her car seat, which is on our peninsula in the kitchen. I picked up some books about making your own baby food. Along the lines of wasting money on diapers, I don't feel like wasting money on jarred baby food. Especially since she is doing so well on breastmilk, she will be skipping needing her food pureed. We don't plan on giving her any other food until 6 months or after, depending on her interest levels.
in the photo, this "look" is what i call angry baby eyes. she cracks me up. she furrows her eyes and gives you THE LOOK, when you are trying to quiet her down with a paci. don't you love her?

Our first blog..

Well Miss sassy is dozing away in her baby bjorn as i type. of course she is tired, since she was up until 2, back up at 5, and then again at 7:30. i would like to be strapped to someone for a nice snooze. any offers?
Ginny is 7 weeks and growing. Last night was a challenge, but i wouldn't trade it for anything. Funny how that works. .

This week sassy had her first tears. that was on monday. sunday night we clipped her nails for the first time. that was scary. i don't cut chino's nails anymore b/c i hurt him. we did ok, they are still sharp though.

i am looking forward to getting out with miss sassy soon. we have been staying home until her first set of shots, which are on october 7. i know most people think that this is insane, and i am starting to get antsy, but everytime i go out i am presented with sick kids, and am SO thankful that she isn't with me. i saw a baby last wkend at walmart that couldn't have been a week old, perched over the shoulder of a teenager, who was out shopping with her experienced friend (she was giving her diaper advice) who was also a teenager. that was scary, and so sad. for both parent and baby.

in the next week i am going to be ordering our first set of cloth diapers. i am done with the disposables now that she is getting a little older and bigger. they are such a waste of money, we are spending $20 a week on them, and that will only get worse and she gets bigger... the packages stay priced the same, with less diapers in them. we have already stopped using wipes in lieu of wet washclothes, which work out perfectly. and i feel better not throwing something into the landfill. we had to wean off the wipes sooner than i anticipated b/c we started using huggies, and in less than a day she had BAD diaper rash.. it looked so painful and took a few days to clear up. it started getting immediately better when i began to use the washclothes, so that was a relief.

in other news, it is fall in some parts of the country, but not in satan's attic. don't get me wrong, it is cooler now, in the low 80's with less humidity, but still nothing like i love back home. i always get depressed this time of year down here, it is hard not to have the leaves changing, cool mornings, trips to the orchard, and my morning walks with chino. not to mention pumpkins, apples, and cider. sure we can get that stuff down here, but they are very expensive and not as good. also there is something wrong about buying those things from a nursery set up in a parking lot. ick. bill just sent me a link to a professorship at university of toledo. while that is an exciting prospect, i think that would be a step down for him. ho hum.

well i think i need to get dressed now and try to get sassy ready for a car ride. i am going to run her to the library really quick. hopefully there will be no sick kids there!
